Having a tree as part of your tattoo may not be the first thing you think of, but it can really help to give your design a grounding.

cherry blossomThe branches of the tree can spread out symmetrically and can support whatever else you want. You might want to ensure that anything else you put on top of the tree matches the tree, or you may wish to include some controversy by mixing up what you want in the design; it’s up to you.

Trees are obviously symbolic of growth, age and being wise, as well as health and life. Therefore, by incorporating a tree into your design, you can suggest lots of different things.

Some of the most popular tattoo designs feature flowers. Flowers, including roses, are great when incorporated into tattoos, because they can symbolize so many different things.

onehundredtwentynine/threehundredandsixtyfiveBlack roses can symbolize death, but are also good to show respect for fallen loved ones. Red tattoos are a traditional symbol of love and romance. It’s therefore important for you to understand the different meanings your chosen tattoo designs can have.

It’s also a good idea for you to consider whethet you want your flower to be alone or accompanied by other elements, such as butterflies, vines, other plants, etc. Try and have a think about things that are important to you and see if you can incorporate them (or, at least, visual representations of them).

There are plenty of other popular tattoo designs for you to consider. Butterflies are popular, but more traditional tattoo designs like anchors and harps are making a comeback. I recommend spending as much time as you can before making your final choice.

Enjoy the process!

You don’t have to be a members of the Addams family to appreciate gothic art or gothic tattoo designs!

2007-07-28 08-04 Paris, Normandie 0027 Paris St. ChapelTypically, gothic art has thick, heavy patterns which are intricate and symbolize endurance and passion. As a lower back tattoo, they are ideal, particularly if the image selected is a flower, such as a rose. A gothic rose also refers to the elaborate stained-glass windows in gothic cathedrals.

Traditionally, roses signify passion and love. When combined with gothic art, they demonstrate a love that will last forever. Fortunately, roses are perfect for inclusion in lower back tattoo designs as they are naturally curved and will therefore compliment your hips.

In addition, the stems of the rose can caress the top of the buttocks and frame the image of the rose in the middle.

Perfect, but how do you decide which design to go for? This can be tricky as there are many things to think about. This guide has been specifically written for women and sheds light on all aspects of having a tattoo.

Rose Tattoo Ideas

If you have decided that you want to be tattooed with an image of a rose, you have nearly crossed the finishing line! Congratulations!

However, there are still plenty of choices you need to make, so here are some rose tattoo ideas for you to consider.

How about combining a rose with a candle? There are many options when combining these two images. Typically, a red rose means love, and a candle symbolises the passage of time. When combined, a lit candle emphasizes that the love expressed by the red rose will last for eternity. However, this need not always be the case. Consider an unlit candle. Perhaps this expresses that love is about to begin, or that it has ended. If you are settling on this design, remember that your views may change in the future, so think twice before going for something which is atypical.

rosecandleIn addition, the rose need not be red. A black rose usually symbolizes death or grief. As such, combining a black rose with an unlit candle shows the end of love; whereas a black rose combined with a lit candle demonstrates that, despite death, love will continue.

Another option would be to combine a rose with some rosebuds. Rosebuds symbolize a new beginning, and emphasize the life-cycle of a rose. A rose on its own is beautiful and eternal; however, combining it with some rosebuds emphasizes the fragility of life and shows that not everything lasts forever. This may perhaps be more realistic in today’s day and age.

Combining some butterflies with a rose is also a fun idea. Butterflies would emphasize the femininity hinted at by the rose, and would also provide excellent curves to accentuate the wearer’s hips.

Remember: this is going to be your tattoo, so spend as much time as you can ensuring that you are happy with the design. If there are any elements that you are not totally happy with, spend some more time checking out alternatives. Good luck!

There are few flowers more beautiful, more scented or more symbolic than a rose. Their deep red petals, curving seductively above a stem of harsh thorns, are given to lovers and dear friends as a sign of love.

close upOn stage, on screen and in the street, you will have seen many examples of women with rose tattoos. You will therefore appreciate the huge array of different rose tattoo designs to choose from. They can be whatever size you want.

Roses are an excellent tattoo to have inked on your lower back. The femininity of the petals, along with their color and beauty are a perfect accompaniment to the sensuous curves of your lower back. It is a personal choice whether their stems with sharp thorns are included in the design, but I would recommend that they are for two reasons.

The first is that the stem can provide some curve to cover the width of the tattoo. Roses (whether colored or not) can populate the length of the stem or could be located purely in the centre, in the small of your back. If you choose not to include a stem, you will be restricting the size of your tattoo, but if you are after a smaller tattoo on your lower back, this is one of the rose tattoo designs you might want to consider.

The second is that the thorny stem is a beautiful contract to not only the soft elegance of the rose, but also to the soft femininity of a very tender and private area of your body. It shows that you are strong yet feminine.

Many people are undecided as to whether their rose tattoo should incorporate color. Obviously, it’s your tattoo, but I would suggest that color be kept to a minimum. It’s much more beautiful to see a colorless stem accompanied by beautifully stark colored petals. If you are having more than one flower-head, you might consider designs which limit the color to appearing on just one of the flower-heads. Less can be more.
